Stone Brewery

As I mentioned before on the weekends we seek out interesting and fun places for our family to explore. Today we visited Stone Brewery. Stone brewery is a very interesting place. The business does not advertise or promote the brewery or restaurant but is always extremely busy! They give tours of the brewery and each tour is always full. It might be because the beer is fantastic, the restaurant is beautiful and they give you 4 free tastings at the end of the tour?! If you ever get to the San Diego area I highly recommend you stop in for a visit.

4 free tastings of their most popular beers, The IPA, Pale Ale, Arrogant Bastard and Smoked Porter. My husband had the smoked porter with vanilla bean last time, but they have yet to have it again.

Spicy Chili Lime Tortilla Chips

The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, especially outside. The have extensive gardens on the grounds where you can enjoy a beer. The restaurant adheres to the slow food movement and purchases locally grown organic food.

The pretzels were so good that they were almost gone before I had the chance to photograph them. They were served with a whole grain mustard and a spicy chipotle sauce

The Spud Buds were my favorite, fried loaded mashed potatoes served with a porter barbecue sauce, yum!
We only ordered the appetizers this visit, they also have unique main courses and desserts. Last visit I had the green tea macadamia nut fried ice cream served with mango sauce and tapioca. It was very good.

They don't sell coke or pepsi products, only artisinal sodas and sparkling waters. L. had the bubble up. I love the retro look of the bottle.

The outdoor patio and gardens. Movies are free in the gardens on Wednesday.

You have made me want to learn more about beer! I guess next time I go to Alsatia I'll have to refrain from wanting to visit wineries for their Riesling, Sylvaner, Pinot Gris, and Gewurztraminer .. and try beer instead!

Glad you enjoyed the visit. Nice pics! We've never made a Vanilla Stout...Stone Smoked Porter w/Vanilla Beans is the one that you had tried before. We make that special version of Stone Smoked Porter only from time time time (as well as another version that's my personal favorite: Stone Smoked Porter w/Chipotle Peppers).

Cheers,

Greg-
Glad you enjoyed the pictures. I changed the vanilla bean stout to smoked porter with vanilla beans. Thanks for clearing that up, I strive to provide clear and accurate information on sjgourmet and would hate to have inaccurate info on my site. As for the smoked porter w/ chipolte we tried it while we were there and thought it was fantastic! I am not a beer fan in general, but I really enjoy the complexity of flavor in your beers! We will definately reccomend Stone Brew to friends and family.

Sounds like a great place. I really enjoy local places like this that produce a quality service/product and make you proud to go there.

My husband and I are huge microbrew fans and love visiting breweries. We try to go to one in each of the places we travel. This looks like such a wonderful place and that fried ice cream dessert sounds out of this world. Yum!
