California BLTA

Weekdays are for work, school and the day to day issues that arise. Here in California when Friday comes along our family starts thinking about relaxing and having fun. Sunday we decided to head to Mission Beach for a day of fun and relaxation in the surf and sun.
After we had our fill of the sand, the waves, the boogie board, we headed to a quaint beach front shack restaurant and dove into some much needed substanace.
I ordered the BLTA. A simple sandwich consisting of bacon, fresh tomatoes, crisp lettuce and creamy avocados. I've had many BLT'S in my life and I absolutely love them when tomatoes are ripe and in season. The best part of the sandwich was the addition of avocado, a simple yet very delicious addition.
Avocados are grown here locally and are in abundance at every road side stand and farmers market. The best part is that because they are local and plentiful they are very cheap! ( Actually all the produce and fruits are relatively inexpensive and plentiful)

The first sandwich I ever had in college was this only with sprouts at a health food cafe, and I thought it was the best thing I had ever had, now I want a BLTA+S...

Have to do this recipe before I leave Santa Monica to head back to Paris! I love BLT but only have it when I am here.

You are NOT allowed to post this kind of stuff when I'll see it at 10:40pm on the East Coast when I should be thinking about bed but could also be teased into wanting a snack.

My mouth literally just watered (Hello, Pavlov calling).

You have a great, happy looking family!
