Chai Iced Tea

I love chai tea, but sometimes when I purchase it pre-made it has too much sugar, too little spice, too much spice or has a strange aftertaste! That just won't do!!
I often host dinner parties, when I plan a menu for a dinner I try to incorporate different cultures and food. How boring would it be to go your hosts home and have the same predictable menu each time!?
So...A few months ago I had a Thai dinner party and found this drink online, it is the perfect combination of sweet and spiced goodness.
*
Chai Iced Tea
*
8 black tea bags
2 cups ice
1 cup evaporated milk
4 tsp. cardamom
4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar
Brew tea according to directions, cool. Place into glass pitcher; add evaporated milk, cardamom, cinnamon, and sugar. Stir to combine. Fill tall glasses with ice and pour chai tea over top until full. Sprinkle with cardamon and cinnamon.
* Chai tea also make a great milkshake, just add your favorite vanilla bean ice cream and blend until creamy!

Sounds so great! I enjoy the boxed version, but like you, don't enjoy how sweet it is. So glad to have this homemade recipe. :)

This looks so good! I also love chai, but have never thought to make it at home.

In my Indian (PC) house we have it, and I must say I could never replace it with a pre-fabricated version!

Right on girl!

I love how this allows for some variation of sweetness or spice, unlike the pre-made stuff. Thanks!

I love, LOVE Chai Tea...happy you posted it so I can now make it at home without spending $3.00 for a glass when I'm out.

Bravo!
