Adobe Lightroom learning curve

So..... I downloaded adobe lightroom in preparation for purchasing a beautiful new canon 40d after christmas. The only problem, I have been using a old version of photoshop and a little kodak fixed lens camera, and have no idea how to start with lightroom. Wish me luck with it, and if you see me fixated on books in barnes and noble it will probably a manual. Do they make lightroom for dummies :) Any tips and suggestions from my fellow camera junkies would be much appreciated.
